Spelling Pages

Students will be able to practice segmenting and encoding words with these Spelling Pages.

ABOUT

Each page has two words that a student can practice spelling. Pictures are given and the teacher says the word aloud for students to segment and encode. Two lines are provided for each word so that students can check their work and rewrite.

These pages use only the letters that students have practiced with thus far, and all words are ones that they have practiced reading. For extra support, all letters that students have learned are given in a box at the top of the sheet.

TIPS & TRICKS

During the first few weeks of practicing to encode words, we recommend doing it together as a class using a smartboard if possible. The goal at this point is exposure and most students will need support.

If you'd like to make the exercise more challenging, you can cover up or black out the letters given at the top of the sheet!
