Word Segmenting

The Word-Segmenting Cards are ready to be cut into half-sheets and use along with reading lessons. They cover words that students have already read, and only use letters they have been practicing. The cards can be used for verbal review or along with the Word-Segmenting Sheet.

These sheets can be placed in dry-erase pockets for students to use again and again. You can give students a word to segment and encode verbally and let them draw a picture in the empty box, or you can place one of the Word-Segmenting Cards on the sheet for them to reference.

TIPS & TRICKS

We recommend doing a bit of this work several times a week as soon as students have learned enough letters. Even if it's quick verbal review, it is key for helping students hear and segment the phonemes in words.
